Nosing is the horizontal, protruding edge of a stair where most foot traffic frequently occurs.
Safety Step Canada’s stair tread nosings, which are ideal especially in commercial and industrial settings, are not load-bearing but are installed over existing steps to increase traction and prevent injury or even death from slips, trips, and falls.
The National Safety Council reports that there are over one million stair-related accidents every year. Installing anti-slip nosings are a proven method of accident prevention.
Our standard 70mm nosings come in lengths of 900 mm (36") and1200 mm (48"), they can easily be cut down to fit your requirements but we recommend they be up to 50 mm (2″) shorter than the length your step to avoid any obstructions (for example; on a steel or grated stair, a weld bead will interfere with the seating of tread cover).
